Our Alumni from all over the world have inspirational stories to share. You’ll also learn how their exciting experiences and unique opportunities at BVIS and abroad have influenced their passion, career goals and personal lives.
We recently reconnected with Ke Phuc, a BVIS Class of 2023 alumnus, currently studying Marketing with a focus on Integrated Marketing Communications at San Diego State University (SDSU)—ranked 52nd among top public universities in the U.S., according to the 2025 U.S. News & World Report.
A Level Programme at BVIS – A Strong Foundation for University
Sharing about his academic journey, Ke Phuc said that the A Level programme at BVIS provided him with a solid knowledge base for foundational courses during the first two years of university, as well as trained him in independent thinking and the ability to quickly adapt to the academic pace at SDSU.
Significantly, thanks to the A Level programme, he received 9 credit exemptions at SDSU—equivalent to nearly $4,000 in tuition fees (around 105 million VND). This helped Phuc save money and gain more time to balance academics with life experiences. He shared:
"Those who perform even better in the A Level programme can certainly be eligible for more than just 9 credits of exemption!"

From BVIS to SDSU – Smooth Integration into an International Environment
Ke Phuc began his journey at BVIS in 2019, entering Year 10, and gradually developed a passion for Communications and Marketing. Besides SDSU's strong reputation in Business and Communications education, Phuc chose the university for its pleasant weather and positive reviews from relatives who had studied there.

According to Phuc, he didn’t feel overwhelmed when he started life in the U.S.
"The lifestyle and mindset here are open and relaxed, but BVIS had already prepared me for an international environment, so integrating felt natural."
During his time at BVIS, Phuc was well-loved by teachers and peers for his active participation in extracurriculars. He served as a Student Mentor for the Hanoi House, regularly performed at Live Lunch music sessions, and was also a dedicated member of the badminton club, even assisting Ms. Nguyen in coaching the U15 badminton team. These experiences made it easy for him to build connections with fellow students through sports—an integral part of university culture in the U.S.

A Message for BVIS Students Planning to Study Abroad
When asked for advice for those planning to study in the U.S. or abroad, he shared:
“Studying abroad is a chance to experience a modern, international education and challenge yourself in a new country. But I hope you don’t forget to care for and love yourself too. Treat this as a journey of self-discovery—learn what is useful and valuable to you. Focus on your studies, but also don’t forget to have fun and live fully in the experience!”
Thank you, Ke Phuc, for sharing your exciting journey at SDSU. We wish you continued success and progress on your chosen path!
