During this year’s university admissions season, the British Vietnamese International School (BVIS) HCMC is proud to celebrate another year of outstanding achievements from the Year 13 students. Among them is Gia Hung, a student of the Class of 2026, who has received multiple offers to study Computer Science from leading universities across the United States and Canada.

Driven by a strong passion for Computer Science and supported by an impressive academic record, Gia Hung received offers from several prestigious universities, including:
Among the offers he received from leading universities across the United States and Canada, Gia Hung has chosen to pursue a degree in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Widely recognised as one of the world's most prestigious institutions for technology and engineering, Georgia Tech is currently ranked #5 for Computer Science in the United States by U.S. News.
In addition, he secured multiple scholarships from international universities, with a combined value of USD 36,688 (equivalent to nearly VND 1 billion).

Having joined BVIS HCMC in 2018, Gia Hung has built a well-rounded academic and extracurricular portfolio with a range of notable achievements, including:

Alongside his academic achievements, Gia Hung has actively engaged in a variety of personal and professional development opportunities:
With a longstanding interest in technology, Gia Hung identified Computer Science as the field he wished to pursue at university, with a longer-term ambition of exploring Quantum Computing - one of today’s most advanced and promising areas of technology.
To prepare for this pathway, he selected Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science at A Level, alongside Economics at AS Level. The A Level curriculum provided him with a strong foundation in logical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Beyond the classroom, Gia Hung completed an internship at a software company in Ho Chi Minh City, where he gained first-hand experience of application development within a professional environment.
In addition, he actively participated in international innovation competitions, including the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival, where he was awarded a Gold Medal, and the International Innovation and Invention Competition in Canada (iCAN). He also completed two personal coding projects: a finance application and a scented candle website. Through these experiences, Gia Hung independently learned and applied programming languages such as JavaScript, as well as web development technologies including HTML and CSS.

Building on these experiences, Gia Hung went on to run the Python Programming Club at BVIS during the 2025–2026 academic year, helping students develop computational thinking skills and gain exposure to programming through Python.

His achievements reflect not only academic excellence, but also initiative, perseverance and a commitment to pursuing his passion. We are confident that the strong foundation he has built during his time at the school will continue to support him as he embarks on the next chapter of his journey in the field of technology.
