HIGH SCHOOL & SECONDAIRE II

In High School, your child will follow one of five distinct diploma pathways, each of which opens doors to the very best universities in Switzerland and across the world. As well as being academically rigorous and taught by specialists, each diploma is packed with character-forming experiences that build confidence, independence, and open-mindedness.

Students also have the option to follow Advanced Placement courses and IBDP options in Grades 11 and 12.

Cambridge IGCSE curriculum
IGCSEs are the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds. The two-year programme – where students typically specialise in eight to ten subjects – culminates in exams at the age of 16. Our students then move on to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme.

International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP)
The IBCP is a two-year course that equips our students with a breadth of transferable 21st century skills. Alongside several core IBDP elements, our IBCP enables our students to work towards potential career destinations, including those in either hospitality or business and sustainability.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)
The two-year IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging, rewarding, and widely respected qualification, recognised by universities across the world. To successfully achieve the diploma, your child will study six subject groups and complete a core programme, which includes a Theory of Knowledge course, an Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) activities.

The French Baccalauréat

The French Baccalauréat is a two-year diploma that’s highly prized by the best universities in the world because it enables students to develop complete intellectual training, rigorous thinking, and a solid general culture. The French Baccalauréat demands a high level of spoken and written French.

The French Baccalauréat Général

The French Baccalauréat is a diploma recognised by universities worldwide because it enables students to develop complete intellectual training, rigorous thinking, and a solid general culture. Students in this stream study a curriculum of core subjects, which they complement with specialised courses that enhance their scientific, literary or economic profile.

The French Baccalauréat is a two-year course. It combines the final tests of the official examinations with a continuous assessment component (taking into account the grades obtained in Première and Terminale, which recognises the student's regular work). Our students have the status of "school candidates" thanks to an agreement between the Rectorat de l'académie de Grenoble and the Groupement des Ecoles Suisses préparant au Baccalauréat Français www.gesbf.ch, which we chair.

The Swiss Maturité
The Maturité Fédérale

The Maturité Fédérale is a diploma awarded at the end of a solid general education comprising 12 subjects studied in depth. To this must be added the writing and oral presentation of a dissertation, known as the "Travail de Maturité".

As a truly bilingual programme, the Swiss Maturité is a direct entry to the best universities.

The Maturité Fédérale

An internationally recognised bilingual diploma

At Collège du Léman, we have opted for a bilingual (English/French) Maturité Fédérale, in which Geography, History and the Complementary Option are taught entirely in English.

The choice of Specific Option begins in Troisième and offers each student the opportunity to study a subject at a higher level, and thus build a degree in line with their aspirations: science, medicine, law, economics or literature.

This highly multidisciplinary training enables students to become more independent, acquire a broad general knowledge and hone their critical thinking skills. These qualities, combined with bilingualism, put students in the best possible position to tackle and succeed in their higher education studies and their professional lives.

Preparation for the diploma is based on regular, personalised coaching of each student. We organise mock exams three times a year.

Exams in February

Since 2020, Collège du Léman has been a pioneer in presenting its candidates for the February examination session. This gives our students the opportunity to take pre-university courses, do work placements and take advantage of a timetable that is more in line with the start of the university year, thus ensuring that they have the best possible conditions for their first steps at university.

The examinations comprise written and oral tests spread over the final two years of study. The teachers accompany the candidates during their stay, providing revision sessions the day before each exam and guidance to the examination rooms.

A WELL-ROUNDED EDUCATION

Whichever academic diploma programme they choose, your child will also enjoy an extraordinary breadth of extracurricular activities. These include individual and team sports, drama, dance, and music clubs, and leadership opportunities.

Our students also take part in projects and overseas trips that make a real difference. Supporting local and international charities, leading the way in school, or collaborating with students on UNICEF-themed initiatives, your child will develop new perspectives on the world.

A TYPICAL SCHOOL DAY IN HIGH SCHOOL & SECONDAIRE II

Every day is packed with experiences that unlock the joy of learning. Both in and beyond the classroom, your child will make thrilling discoveries, pursue passions, and change the world for the better.
