At Primary, we offer a choice of three programmes: Anglophone, Francophone, or Bilingual.
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is the basis for all our programmes. The IPC consists of stimulating and globally relevant thematic units of work, adapted to our unique Primary School context in Switzerland. These are designed around a clear process of learning for your child.
All three programmes are academically ambitious. Our Anglophone programme is based on the rigorous standards of the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, while our Francophone programme contains elements of the l’Education Nationale Française. This guarantees our standards align with curricula across the globe.
Your child can move between programmes at any time, following a review of their language level.
The IPC is a thematic, creative programme, with clear personal, subject, and learning goals. A truly flexible curriculum, the IPC can be adapted to each student’s interests, talents, and level of understanding.
The IPC Subject Goals assess a child’s knowledge, skills and understanding in specific areas, including maths, science, technology, history, geography, music, PHE, and art and society.
The eight IPC Personal Goals – enquiry, resilience, morality, communication, thoughtfulness, cooperation, respect, and adaptability – are embedded into each unit of work.
The IPC Learning Goals raise our students’ awareness of national, international, and intercultural viewpoints. The IPC has over 130 different thematic units, designed to appeal to different interests and teach students about the world around them.
On both our Anglophone and Bilingual programmes, English and maths are taught using the Cambridge Primary Curriculum.
In English, we nurture our students’ love of reading, writing, and literature. Children develop their phonic knowledge and listen, discuss, reflect, and express themselves through their writing, becoming clear and effective communicators.
In maths, our students master five key areas: numbers, geometry, measurements, data handling, and problem-solving. The curriculum focuses on principles, patterns, systems, functions, and relationships, which helps our students develop a holistic understanding of the subject.
The school day starts at 8:15 am and finishes at 3:40 pm.
At lunchtime, your child can enjoy a hot meal in our canteen. They’ll choose from a range of healthy, nutritious options, or you can send a packed lunch in from home.
After school, we offer more than 100 extracurricular activities. These run from 3:40-6:45 pm.
We want our students to feel safe and happy, valued and understood. Our structured wellbeing curriculum, also known as personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE), is at the heart of each student’s educational experience.
Our experienced team of Learning Support Teachers and Counsellors provide the support and guidance our students need to become confident, independent, lifelong learners, too. Innovative initiatives, like our Happy Feet group for students who want to enjoy some quiet time at lunch, ensure everyone is included and comfortable.
We think beyond traditional education so that every student can shape their own journey. Our ‘Made for You’ approach guarantees choice, nurtures strengths, and fosters a lifelong love of learning.
