To kick start the day, Class 5A and Class 5B listened to a very informative talk on maize trading by a parent expert. They learnt some amazing facts about what products corn is used in. This was then followed by a fascinating talk on South Africa, given by one of our LCIS teachers, Mrs Gernandt. Next was a carousel of events; cooking Mandazi, making footballs out of recycled materials and being presented with the challenge of designing and creating a game from just sticks, mud and wire.
Having then built up an appetite, we were treated to a wide variety of African foods brought in by the children. Each child presented the food that they had brought, explaining the ingredients and basic recipe. We had so much food that we were able to share it with some of the other classes.
The children looked so colourful in their outfits and gained so much from this enrichment day. A huge thank you to the numerous parents who gave up their time to help out in various ways.
