Principal's Welcome

  • Andy Puttock, Principal at La Côte International School Aubonne

Dear parents,

A very warm welcome to La Côte International School Aubonne (LCIS).

It is an honour to be leading this vibrant and dynamic school as Principal. There is no greater privilege than working with young people during their formative years, and it gives me the greatest pleasure to introduce you to the outstanding opportunities offered to our students and families. I have previously been the Principal of three schools (two in the UK and one in China) where I was proud to have my own children as students, so I experienced first-hand the critical importance of the right choice of school. As Principal, I want parents and students to feel they know me well, and encourage them to come and see me at any time, to celebrate success and to raise any concern, however small.

I hope that as you browse our website, you will gain insight into the unique experience that we offer. However, the best way to learn about LCIS is to see our school in action, and I encourage you to contact us to arrange a tour of our school so that you can experience our warm, caring, vibrant community first hand.

LCIS is unique and constantly evolving. Founded in 2008 in Mont-sur-Rolle with just 42 students, we are now a truly international school, welcoming around 500 students ages 2-18 from over 37 different countries at our purpose-built campus in Aubonne. We want your child to be seen, valued and empowered and feel a sense of belonging and pride at their school. We strive continuously to offer an engaging learning environment that ensures your child will love coming to school.

While many parents select our school for our impressive academic record, we know this is only one part of helping our students flourish in the changing world of the future. Our bespoke, vibrant international curriculum instils in our students of all ages a lifelong passion for learning and challenges them to be the very best they can be. We know that our children flourish when they are cared for, challenged, have opportunities to apply their learning and when they are empowered to discover and build on their individual strengths and passions. Therefore, authentic learning experiences, both inside and outside the classroom, build the core of the personalised teaching we afford our students and equip them to play a proactive and positive role in the world they will inherit.

As part of Nord Anglia Education (NAE), LCIS offers our students a range of unparalleled global opportunities. Your child will have the opportunity to expand their creativity, imagination and self-confidence through our performing arts programme, which is strengthened by our collaboration with The Juilliard School in New York. Our collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) supports our own real-world, hands-on approach to teaching STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths), to nurture curiosity and inspire your child to invent the future. With UNICEF, our students engage practically with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and learn to create local solutions for global issues. NAE’s exclusive learning environment,Global Campus, also allows our students to connect with peers from all over the world to collaborate, learn and interact with one another to develop a truly international perspective.

Highly experienced teachers are at the core of a child’s success in school, and we use the global reach of our family of schools to recruit and retain the very best. As dedicated, passionate and committed professionals, our teachers strive to inspire our students each and every day to reach for their dreams. Nord Anglia University, the home of NAE’s exclusive professional development offer, provides our teachers with exceptional resources to ensure that they, too, are inspired to remain lifelong learners and includes the opportunity for teachers to undertake a unique Master’s in International Education with Kings College London.

We challenge our students to be ambitious and to excel in their studies in order to succeed at top universities around the world. In the academic year 2019/2020, our  International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme graduates achieved an average score of 35 points, equalling the school’s best ever results, and in addition, more than 10% of our graduates achieved over 40 points. We also celebrate that for the sixth year running, our graduates achieved a 100% pass rate, a glowing result compared to the 77.4% world average IB pass rate. Our first ever IGCSE cohort was equally successful: 91% of our students achieved grade 5 or above (referred to in the UK as a ‘high pass’), 19% achieved the top grade (grade 9) whilst 64% achieved grades 7-9, which has always been the UK government benchmark for excellence.

Besides their academic success, it is clear to see that our children leave LCIS with the flexibility, confidence and resilience necessary to engage and thrive in the multicultural, multilingual world of tomorrow, and armed with the belief that they can achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Choosing the right community and learning environment for your child is a major decision.  We hope you agree that La Côte International School Aubonne is not only a fantastic school, but also the right school for you. We look forward to welcoming you into our family.

Kind regards,

Andy Puttock, Principal at LCIS
