Laura has lived in Switzerland since 2018 and joined LCIS in August 2019 as Year 5 Teacher and IT Primary School Lead. She grew up in County Mayo on the scenic west coast of Ireland. Following her degree in Law and European Studies (French), she completed a PGCE with a French language specialism, as well as her NQT year in the UK.
During her career she has taught a wide range of year groups in the UK, France and mainly in the UAE, where she taught for seven years. Her educational philosophy focuses on creating a learning atmosphere in the classroom where children can collaborate, be supported to be risk takers, and develop the key skills required in the 21st century through engaging in learning activities which challenge and motivate each student to achieve their best.
She is particularly passionate about teacher development and using technology effectively in school, and has completed courses in Educational Technology and Teacher Coaching. In her free time, Laura enjoys hiking in the beautiful Swiss countryside, yoga and tennis.
