In 1997, Azmat received a Bachelor of Honours degree in Classical Civilisation from the University of Warwick and then a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education in History and English from Keele University.
Having worked as a Head of History in her native Manchester, UK, she began to pursue her International teaching career in 2005 where she became a Coordinator of Humanities and Life skills in Bahrain and then became an Educational Advisor in the PPP reform project of the UAE and Malaysia. This gave Azmat the opportunity to work with diverse educationalists in an advisory capacity where she created sustainable systems for nurturing the Teaching and Learning cycle to impact on student attainment.
Azmat is also a trained CELTA teacher which has enabled her to work with bilingual learners internationally and in the UK where Azmat has also trained on the IB MYP Category 1 and 3 programmes and has been an innovative MYP teacher in an Independent school in London. Since then, she has been trained in IB DP Category 1 and 3 Training courses and was the Subject Leader of the Individuals and Societies department at Jumeira Baccalaureate School in Dubai, UAE.
Azmat embarked on her new challenge relocating to cooler climes to Switzerland in 2017 with Gems World Academy in Etoy. She now looks forward to joining La Cote and the Nord Anglia group in the Individuals and Societies department in August 2019 and continues to relish upon the sights, sounds and cultural experiences that Switzerland has to offer!
