David Tingström

David Tingstrom_2019

Teacher of Chemistry, Science and Psychology

My name is David Tingström and I originate from Stockholm, Sweden. My passion for Science was thoroughly kindled at one of Europe’s northernmost universities, Umeå University, where I did my Master of Science followed by three years of postgraduate studies at Umeå Plant Science Centre, which is one of the top four research institutions for Plant Genetics and Biochemistry in the world. In my Masters of Educational Science I combined my interest for research with a growing enthusiasm for pedagogy.

After working in Sweden for seven years as a lead teacher in Science, I really missed the international environment and the multi-cultural community that I was a part of during my years at university, and I therefore decided to pursue a career in international teaching. For the last four years I have been working in Beijing, China, where I was one of the founding teachers at an offshoot of one of China’s most prestigious High Schools and where I, in my position as a Head of Faculty, have been working on bridging Chinese and international educational philosophies. In my coming work at LCIS, I look forward to being a member of an international community in the heart of Europe, and I am very excited about working together with my new students to prepare them for their future lives as global citizens.
