Kathryn Gowers

MYP Coordinator and Humanities Teacher

Kathryn Gowers is a graduate from UWE Bristol where she read economics and history. Kathryn then completed a PGCE in economics and business at the London institute of education. She started her teaching career in Surrey England, as a teacher of economics and business. While teaching in Surrey and outer London Kathryn took on the role of Pastoral head of year, head of department and an advanced skills teacher. She has always been interested in those students that find accessing education difficult and after many successful years in mainstream education, Kathryn worked with disaffected learners in Surrey and Berkshire.  Life choices led her to relocate to Switzerland and Kathryn started work at La Côte International School at the early stages of the secondary school development. She has worked to develop the humanities department, the establishment of the diploma programme and now is focusing on the Middle Years Programme. Kathryn believes that working in the field of education is a privilege; working with others to achieve lifelong learning for all is her goal and she feels very strongly that it is possible to create the correct learning environment for all to succeed.
