Presentation Educalcohol

On thursday we were visited by Educalcohol Costa Rica who gave our 8th graders and important talk about the potential damage they could do by engaging in underage drinking This year we have worked with parents to generate some key agreements as our 8th graders head into HS. I strongly believe that if we are strong and stick to these agreements as a community we can keep our students safe and healthy going forward.

5th to 6th Transition

On Thursday morning Miss Urrutia and Miss Rodriguez organised a wonderful transition for the 5th graders into Middle school. It was a great chance to introduce them to our middle school Keys to Character: Be responsible, be respectful, be kind, and be honest! Sixth graders had written some letters to the incoming 5th graders which were read out to them. We then played some fun team building activities before a tour of the middle school. I had the chance to take on Mr Young at Ping Pong and I am pleased to announce I narrowly won!

The 7th grade history classes hosted a member of the Costa Rican indigenous communities who came to speak to them about the various groups in country. He spoke to them about their different cultures, lifestyles and adaptation to Costa Rican norms. He described to them the challenges faced as electricity and running water arrived to communities in the past few decades as well as the struggles between being their own nations and part of Costa Rica/Panama at the same time.
