Academic Program for Grades 1 to 5
We believe in a well-rounded education for every child. Our students continue learning through exploration of many disciplines; Teachers engage students’ through their individual interests for imparting knowledge and developing skills. As a community we continuously foster enthusiasm for life-long learning.
Students are provided with international learning experiences within the classroom. In the Touchpoints project, students work in teams to solve global problems and present solutions through the latest videoconference technology. Students learn how to solve problems creatively, work with teammates from other cultures, and use critical thinking skills.
21st Century Learning and Values
San Roberto International School promotes core values and a sense of community through class meetings, special assemblies, and weekly spiritual classes led by a group of dedicated parents. Students develop individual responsibility, respect for others, and empathy through authentic and purposeful dialog. Throughout their elementary experience, students continue to grow as confident independent learners who develop their individual strengths and social skills.
Technology and music are imbedded in the curriculum to set the foundation for successful 21st century learning. ISR recognizes that every child is unique and comes to school with different experiences, skills, and knowledge. Our curriculum is based on differentiation where students explore literacy in English and Spanish. Students are encouraged to take risks, set goals, and play an active role in their own learning.
Destination Imagination Mexico
San Roberto International School Valle Alto Campus is host to Destination ImagiNation, a yearly event that promotes creativity, teamwork and problem solving. Learn more about this event here.
Elementary Leadership Team
Elementary Principal - San Agustín Campus
Ed.D from University of Minnesota, MA from University of Bath, B.Ed from University of Leeds. Ian taught in private, public and international schools in UK, Kenya, US, India and Senegal. Moved from classroom after completing doctorate to Assistant Middle School Principal at American Embassy School, Delhi and most recently spent last 6 years as Elementary Principal at the International School of Dakar. He enjoys all sports and in younger years played golf at representative level. Also enjoys movies, reading and spending as much time with family when possible.
Elementary Vice Principal - San Agustín Campus
Nora Montoya is the Elementary Vice Principal at San Agustin Campus. She has a Bachelor Degree in Education, Accounting and a Masters Degree in International Education from Framingham State University in Massachusetts. She has been working in the education field for the last 19 years with outstanding results in Preschool, Elementary and at the Learning Center from San Roberto. She is an organized, enthusiastic and active person. She is married and has two sons. She enjoys reading, running and spending time with her family.
Elementary Principal - Valle Alto Campus
He holds a BA in International Business and Marketing from the University of Colorado, Master in Public Administration from the University of Colorado, and Doctor of Education from the University of Denver. Kyle was a recipient of Fulbright Teacher Exchange Grant. He taught in Bogotá, Colombia for 1 year, Elementary Principal of College View Elementary in Denver, Colorado for 5 years, and helped transformed one of the lowest performing schools in the district to one of the most innovative and productive, with a focus on school culture and character.
Elementary Vice Pricipal - Valle Alto Campus
She has been part of ISR since 1998, where she has also worked as a homeroom teacher and Academic Coordinator. Her experience, flexibility, patience, understanding, and empathy have earned compliments from our community, who see her efforts to persuade our students to be better and do what is right. She has a Master in International Education from the Framingham State University. She actively participates in different academic and nonacademic committees and has been involved in all of the SACS/AdvancED accreditation and improvement processes for our school.
