Creating A Second Home

Our boarding community is a big family. Boarding Houses and the rules are all based on the principles that naturally occur in a family home. Each one of our 15 houses are equipped with shared bedrooms for the students, to encourage communication between students.

As a school, we welcome over 120 different nationalities to our community, so the discovery of new cultures and languages is a privilege that we want our students to take seriously.

Most Houses have en-suite toilet and shower facilities. All Houses have fully equipped kitchens, even though our restaurants cater to our students’ meals outside of the Boarding House. Each House also has a pleasant common room, an area for students to relax in, while also providing work areas for study halls.

The Garden

A very important part of the House is the garden. Each student has access to a beautiful outside space, to relax in, and to take advantage of the beautiful and mild Geneva weather. We encourage our students to experience the simple pleasures of growing vegetables and fruits. Even in the 21st century with a technology-rich curriculum, we ensure our students are in tune with the basic pleasures such as gardening.

The Houseparent

Every House has Houseparents that live in and share the Boarding House with their team of Graduate Assistants, resident and non-resident Tutors. The team’s responsibility is to care for the children, some of whom may be away from home for the first time.

The Houses

Boys and Girls are located in separate houses. Boarders are always proud of their houses, whichever one they belong to. The standard of each house is the same, but each one allows for different tastes and focus. Together they form our Boarding Community, which is large and well-established, and our 15 well-appointed boarding houses are creatively designed to make a home, while at the same time supporting the needs and goals of our students.

Our houses are friendly and welcoming places. In each one, there is an allocated quiet time for homework after school. As in any house, the common rooms and the kitchens are a hub of activity. At Collège du Léman we believe in a truly international community, and our houses cater for many different nationalities all under one roof.

Most rooms are for two students sharing, allocated because of their profiles and their interests, as well as their age of course. Students are encouraged to use all the benefits of belonging to this community to make friends from all over the world, discover new cultures and interests. In addition, this has the benefit of providing a global network for the future.

The Advantages – A 24/7 Education

Boarding can provide an excellent transition from home to independence and maturity; the Senior Boarding Houses, the outside villas in particular, enable boys and girls to enjoy the benefits of boarding at an important stage in their school careers, and to prepare for life at university.
