Our approach to boarding

Our Director of Boarding, Justin Usher explains our unique approach to boarding.

Justin Usher - Colège du Léman

Welcome from Mr. Justin Usher, Director of Boarding.

CDL Boarding House Parent Student 755x500

A great school is one where the staff know the students, where the students feel valued, cared for, able to express themselves, and supported in their goals.

Our team takes time to really know students, to make time for them, to value them as individuals, to care about their happiness. Our aim is to develop the thoughtful, caring side of their characters as well as their intellect and ambition.

We expect our students to go on to make a positive difference in whatever walk of life they choose to pursue.

With so many opportunities and being surrounded by so many nationalities and cultures here at Collège du Léman, we hope they will be ambitious, and that they will take confidence from their strong grounding and varied experiences here.

Boarding Team Collège du Léman

Our Boarding Ethos

Collège du Léman offers boarders a structured, relaxed, consistent and friendly home in which to develop into young adults, confident in themselves, with a developed sense of responsibility and a sound academic understanding to move on to universities. We believe that young people thrive on high expectations and plenty of justified praise. Our many boarding staff are genuinely conscientious, committed, caring and approachable.

We always listen. We encourage our students to speak up about anything that is worrying them. Students are made aware of the channels of communication open to them at the beginning of the academic year, and in addition we run an open-door policy for our students. Parents too must feel free to contact House Parents at any time about any matter.

Communication between school and parents is a key contributing factor to a successful boarding experience for our students. Any academic queries are best addressed to your child’s House Parent, who will work closely with the tutor for academic matters.

BRD Student Bulletin 2022 - #1 - Cover

In addition to direct communication between parents and House Parents, we send our families a weekly boarding bulletin by email and on our Parent App. Our students are also encouraged to share their stories once a term. Below you will find our students' newsletters from this school year.
