Collège du Léman Learning Support department assists students with diagnosed specific learning needs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADD and ADHD.
We strongly believe that all students deserve a high-quality education within a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum so that they can reach their potential, enhance their self-esteem, and maintain their interest and enjoyment in their studies. All Collège du Léman students can benefit from our expertise as we use a wide range of teaching techniques.
We work in close collaboration with parents, classroom teachers, external therapists and school counsellors to ensure students’ educational needs are being met.
Learning Support specialized SEN teachers offer classes in Numeracy, Literacy and Study Skills for both Middle School and High School from Grade 6 to 12. Small groups are taught in our classrooms, which are fully equipped with the newest effective learning resources, including interactive whiteboards, all providing a multisensory hands - on learning experience.
Progress is monitored regularly and programmes are altered to suit the needs of the student.
For more information about our courses, read our brochure and registration form.
In collaboration with external educational therapists, we prepare guidance documents (Individual Study Plan) for teachers, advising them on more specific teaching strategies and accommodations such as:
- Extra time in examinations and tests
- The use of a laptop and educational software
- Provision of an assistant to read to the student and/or write for them
- Regular breaks and a variety of equipment and strategies to manage stress and anxiety
