Wednesday we saw the return of the BVIS Public Speaking Competition, once again pitting some of the school’s finest orators against each other in a war of words from which all emerged unscathed, but none unmoved. Drawing on considerable reserves of eloquence and wit, the contestants developed the topics ofimagination, appearance and important firsts into forceful and engaging speeches to challenge the intellect and stir the soul.
Pham Minh Anh in 10I delivered a veritable master-class in the art of rousing public speaking to claim best speaker in English, with Nguyen Doan Quang Anh’s energetic engagement with the audience securing him the title of best speaker in Vietnamese. Le Quang Chin, (Ben) in 8V took the prize for best speaker in English from KS3. In what proved a very entertaining and emotional end to the year’s events, the bar has once again been set very high for next year’s round of competitors.
