First house competition of the year – From Ms Rosy Clark 11th September

11 September 2015

As you may have seen on ‘The Hub’, the Year 6 classes elected our 2015-16 House Captains recently. So, this week, we held our first House Competition of the school year in the Primary School.

The four Houses (Hanoi, Saigon, Hue and Dalat) compete against each other throughout the school year during our sports events and via the weekly accumulation of housepoints. The Primary School also holds competitions in assembly which are fun, exciting and value key skills.

This week’s house competition was in maths and each house was represented by a team comprising one teacher plus four children, one from each of the Y3 – Y6 year groups. A variety of maths skills were required – problem solving, calculations with money and mental maths. Individual mathematical skills as well as team work were involved.

The Primary School really enjoyed the competition and cheered on their teams excitedly. Thanks to all those who took part, especially the four teachers who were willing to showcase their maths skills in public: Mr Jamie (Dalat), Ms Jo (Hue), Ms Nga (Hanoi) and Mr Fergus (Saigon).

After four rounds of maths questions, the winners were… Hue House with a total of 32 points!
