Thank you to all those who attended parents evenings this week. These meetings fall between the issue of your two written reports so are an important check-up on your child’s progress. We look forward to seeing all parents of the remaining classes next week.
FOBISIA Primary Performing Arts Carnival (PPAC)
What an absolute pleasure it was to participate in last weekend’s PPAC for FOBISIA schools. Mr Fergus and I were very proud of the six BVIS Primary children who took part alongside more than 200 other students from 16 other FOBISIA schools in Singapore, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Thailand.
Our children had a busy time participating in cultural workshops and social events designed to encourage all the students to mix with their peers from other schools and countries. This is always an important part of FOBISIA events as it helps children to develop their personal and social skills.
But many hours, of course, were also spent in rehearsal preparing the orchestra and choir for the gala concert on Sunday afternoon. The theme of the concert was “Showtime” and all the selected pieces were well known songs from famous shows such as “Singin’ in the Rain”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Grease” and “Les Miserables”. Some FOBISIA Headteachers and parents flew in from other countries especially for the concert.
The standard of the performance was extremely high so this was a very valuable musical experience for our children. Congratulations to Molly and Tiffany (Y6), Khai, Sam, Ba Duy and Linh Vinh (Y5) for their hard work and excellent performance in the choir on Sunday.
