Another exciting week here at BVIS as our year 11 students were leaving the campus for their first ever working experience at different placements. One of the groups went for internship at Nature Food Company, which specialises in manufacturing dried vegetable and spice. Started from Wednesday 17th to 19th of June, three of our students were doing different tasks in the workshop in Dong Nai. To begin with, they were given lessons on Safety and Sanitation applied in food and beverage industry. They were also informed about occupational safety and some common certification such as ISO 9001:2008, ISO 22000, HACCP, etc. It was very useful to approach these information since the students could easily get used to the job in this particular industry. Beside that, a presentation about “How to operate and apply strategies into business” has helped the students to obtain clearer vision of the real business world. Apart from those lessons, the students also had the opportunities to carry out practical work including preparing raw materials and doing quality control of the output. Through the tasks given, the students understand more thoroughly how working life is like and also learn to follow instructions, be more patient and responsible. Manual work such as washing, peeling vegetables and doing quality control help they appreciate and respect other workers. Collaboration is one of the most important skills that our students gained from the work experience. We would like the say a big thank to Nature Food Company since they had kindly provided us with such a good opportunity to work in their plant and office.
