Mr Paul Holyome Weekly Update 26/08/2016

26 August 2016

Dear Parents

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very warm welcome back and hope that you have all had a restful break and spent lots of happy time with your families. I would also like to extend a huge welcome to all our new families. We had a wonderful morning on Tuesday and each year there appears to be more and more new families joining our community.

Yet again we have invested heavily over the summer in further improving the school facilities including to name just a few:

  • Two purpose built Juilliard keyboard rooms to deliver the amazing Juilliard music curriculum to all of our children

  • A new Sixth Form centre for our Year 12 and Year 13 students

  • A new climbing wall in EYFS soft play room

  • Extra shading at the main entrances

We were delighted with our IGCSE and A Level results. It was a record breaking year for BVIS and by far our best results ever. Yet again we far exceeded UK and International results and all of our students were accepted to their University and College of their choice. Over 30% of students secured a place at one of the top 50 Universities in the world. A remarkable achievement. Well done to all the teachers and students on this amazing performance.

I am glad to say that only a few teachers left BVIS last year, which was  great news. However we have replaced those that have left and we have recruited an additional PE teacher, an additional EAL teacher and we now have a designated University and College Guidance Counsellor on site. I would like to warmly welcome all the new staff to our community. You can view all exiting staff and new staff profiles using the following link:

I am delighted to see the children, teachers and families back at school. The school is quite an empty and heartless place without these around the school. I know it is going to be another fantastic year here at BVIS and I look forward to your continued support and seeing you in the school at some point in the next week and months to come.

    Have a relaxing weekend.
