Learning Phonics at BVIS

Parents of children currently learning phonics were invited to school this week to learn more about our special bilingual phonics programme here at BVIS. This programme has been specially developed through collaboration with Professor Ly Kha at the University of Pedagogy to teach early reading skills to our children in both Vietnamese and English using high quality materials and active learning strategies.

At the Phonics Coffee Morning, Ms Ha and Ms Rachael (our Vietnamese and English Literacy Coordinators) were assisted by some Year 3 children to teach parents how to pronounce the sounds and use the actions.

It was an interactive, fun session with two more Phonics Coffee Mornings to come on Thursday 6th and Thursday 13th October at 08:30 in the Main Hall. So if you missed the first session, do come to the next if you can. Thank you to all the parents who came this week and were excellent students!
