BVIS HCMC Weekly Highlights 13-03-2026

Weekly Highlights is a weekly newsletter sent by the BVIS Leadership Team to parents, providing updates on notable news and activities at the school. The newsletter consists of three main sections: updates from the Principal, Head of Primary, and Head of Secondary.

Weekly Highlights 22/08/2025 - Weekly Highlights 22 08 2025

Dear Parents,

Just after the Tet Holiday, I mentioned that we were delighted to welcome Scott Huyler and Sylvia Johnston from the Council of International Schools (CIS) for our Re‑Accreditation Visit. Over three days, they spent time with our students, staff, and a number of parents, learning more about how our school has grown and developed since the last accreditation cycle. Their visit also helped us identify our key priorities for the next 18 months as we continue to strengthen our provision.

BVIS Principal Weekly Highlights 1303 3

We are incredibly proud to share that Scott and Sylvia were deeply impressed with every aspect of our school. They highlighted the strength of our academic standards, the high levels of student engagement, and the consistently high‑quality teaching and learning happening across all year groups. They also praised our students’ excellent behaviour, our impressive facilities, and the robust systems we have in place to ensure the health, and safeguarding of every child.

The next stage for our school will be to work on the recommendations as part of our whole school strategic plan for 2026 – 2029 and we will share more information about this in Term 3.

BVIS Principal Weekly Highlights 1303 5

Please continue to explore what has been happening in our school by continuing to read the Primary and Secondary highlights. In Secondary, our students returned from incredible expeditions that took place last week—experiences that not only challenge our students but help them grow in confidence, independence, and global understanding. In Primary, our Year 5 students returned today from their trip, and I have no doubt they will have many exciting tales to tell!

This continues next week also.

This week our Year 5 group has been away, enjoying an enriching residential trip to the Mekong Delta and Can Tho. This experience provides a fantastic opportunity for students to develop friendships, collaborate on adventurous activities, and cultivate essential real-life skills, including resilience and independence. We can’t wait to hear all about their adventures and the valuable lessons they learned during their time away in class next week. It promises to be an exciting sharing of stories and experiences that will enhance their learning journey!

Care and Respect – BVIS Friendship Bench

This week in Lower Primary, we held an assembly focused on the important core values of Care and Respect. Our Lower Primary School Council, along with Mis Ash, introduced the new BVIS Friendship Bench, a wonderful initiative aimed at supporting students who may not have someone to play with at break or lunch in the playground. This thoughtful idea from our student leaders encourages inclusivity and kindness, creating a welcoming environment for all.

BVIS 15th Anniversary Celebration – What will you be in 15 Years?

This week, we are thrilled to celebrate our BVIS 15th Anniversary! As part of our festivities, students will participate in the activity "To the Future Me in 15 Years," where they will send messages to their future selves, sharing their dreams, aspirations, and reflections. Each message will be expressed on uniquely designed pieces that will come together to form a wall mosaic; a symbol of the spirit of the BVIS community. Additionally, on Thursday, March 12, 2025, our Primary and Early Years students had the chance to capture memorable moments with their friends and teachers at an Instant Photo Booth, commemorate this significant milestone for BVIS!

Year 6 Day Trip – Escape Rooms!

On Monday, our Year 6 students went on an exciting day trip to the Master Escape Rooms, where they had the thrilling opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of spooky and horrifying tales, perfectly aligning with the literacy work they have been exploring in class. The themed escape rooms provided an engaging and interactive experience, allowing students to apply their understanding of the genre while working collaboratively to solve puzzles and unravel mysteries.

Live Lunch

This month’s Live Lunch was another joyful celebration of music and confidence on our Secondary stage, particularly for our older KS4 and KS5 students after the challenging mock exam period. Musicians treated the BVIS Secondary community to an impressive mix of performances, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere in our special Outdoor Stage area.

It’s wonderful to see our young musicians stepping forward, sharing their artistry, and supporting one another. Bravo to all performers—your courage and creativity continue to brighten our school week!

Whether students were riding the waves on surfboards in Ho Tram or searching for scavenger hunt clues around Ta Cú Mountain in Mũi Né, there has been plenty of excitement and many stories shared across the school. The trips provided fantastic opportunities for students to try new activities, work together in teams, and create lasting memories with their friends.
