It’s been a fantastic week of charity activities here at BVIS, culminating in today’s MUFTI day to raise money to help support our friends at Va Va Cu Chi.
Va Va Cu Chi is an organisation that helps to bring clean water to areas of Vietnam that are desperately in need of it. Just last year, our students raised money that helped pay for a new water pump given to Binh My School in Cu Chi district. This helps the school to provide clean water for all of their students.
Today we were visited by Ms Phuong Dung from Va Va Cu Chi, who showed our students how their generous donations have impacted on some less fortunate children from the Cu Chi district. Ms Phuong Dung spoke to both Secondary and Primary students this morning to further raise awareness of the good work they do and the importance of providing clean water to all. She also shared some messages from the children in Cu Chi, who have directly benefited from the donations made by BVIS students in the last academic year.
Today students and staff from the whole school have chosen to wear blue clothes to raise awareness of global goal #6 – Clean Water and Sanitation. They have also donated a small amount of money each, which will be used to further support Va Va Cu Chi in raising awareness of this important issue.
This morning, I also had the pleasure of announcing the winner of this week’s ICT – Water Logo competition. Students in years 4 - 9 were tasked with creating a logo that represented the school’s commitment to providing clean water to all. It was a very difficult decision, due to the high quality of entries produced, but I was delighted to announce that the winner was Eddie from class 7I. The creativity shown in his logo design really impressed me and we will soon see this logo displayed around school as a reminder of how precious clean water is.
I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to both today’s MUFTI day and to any of the activities throughout the week. It has certainly put the topic of ‘Clean Water’ at the forefront of both students’ and teachers’ minds. This week has reinforced my belief that we have an incredibly caring and dedicated school community that we should all be proud of. Well done to all of you!
