Secondary Update – Mr Simon Graves – 09/09/2016

09 September 2016

Secondary students have been hard at work this week raising awareness of one of their chosen Global Goals, Number 6:

Access to Clean Water and Sanitation

. September 5

th

was named International Day of Charity by the United Nations and

at BVIS we took that on for the whole week

.

On Wednesday, Year 13 students organised a

water carrying challenge for some of the primary students

and on Thursday lunchtime, year 8 and 10 students showed their primary friends how much dirty water needs to be filtered to

produce drinking water with their own science experiment

.

We’re grateful for everyone’s generosity on today’s ‘Blue’ Mufti Day as well, as we raise money for and awareness of the

Va Va Cu Chi

clean water project.

This week was also the start of our house events, with footballers from both Key Stage 3 and 4/5 battling it out on the field at lunchtimes. It’s tight as always,

with the scores so far here

.

KS3 (2)

I would like to take the opportunity this week to formally introduce and welcome our new University and College Guidance Counsellor, Mr Luke Curran.

Find out all about him and what he can offer our students here

.

Year 12 and 13 students have already made great use of our new Careers Room, which you will have the opportunity to see on Tuesday evening, when I hope to see you all at the Form Tutor Evening.

Finally, we are launching a new Healthy Options range in the Sunken Garden from Monday. We take your children’s health and wellbeing extremely seriously, and have worked closely with Blackcat to ensure we continue to deliver both

nutritious and healthy snacks to compliment the wonderful school lunches

Have a wonderful weekend.
