This week in the Primary School
Young Musician of the Year 2017
The winners of last week’s auditions for “Young Musician of the Year” all performed on Tuesday in the theatre in front of an audience of teachers and family members. Judging their performances was a very difficult task for Mr Preston, Ms Hardiman and I, but three children were chosen to go forward to the final of the competition.
The final will be held at the BIS Secondary campus on Tuesday 17th October when our young musicians will be competing against the finalists from the BIS Primary campuses in what I’m sure will be a high quality final. Mr Paul Murphy from Juilliard, New York will be present along with senior leaders from both the BIS and BVIS schools.
Congratulations to all the semi-finalists and good luck to our three finalists:
Tuong An 4B - piano
Tin in class 6B – guitar
Duc Tri in class 5I – piano
Bilingual month is taking place in October to celebrate our children’s amazing bilingual skills. This is happening through a variety of different activities in the Primary School. This week, for example, children took part in games played on the playground stage at lunchtime when they showcased their ability to switch from one language to the other.
Other activities are taking place in lesson times, culminating in a special assembly on Friday 20th October when you are very welcome to join us in the Main Hall at 08:40
