20% time exhibitions

26 May 2017

  • 20%ExhibitionPhotos

For the past few weeks Key Stage 3 students have been spending a small amount of time each Wednesday morning on a project of their choosing. The idea came from Google and the fact that they allocate 20% of their employees' time to work on something they are interested in. BVIS 20% time has produced projects from the origins of origami to the properties of polythene; from education information to musician tuition.

This week was the Key Stage 3 20% time exhibition where students have shown a broad range of interests and skills, some of which they had only started learning during their 20% time. There was a magic trick demonstration, a careers fair,  craft-making, cookery and many examples of research projects on topics as far-reaching as Son Doong Caves, white rhinos and how to spend money wisely. And these are just a few examples!

Well done to all the students who worked so hard on these projects. It is amazing to see what our students can achieve with a bit of freedom!
