This week I have spent lot of time meeting with students who would like to join our school. I have been extremely impressed by the thoughtfulness and enthusiasm for learning of many of these children. Yesterday I was very pleasantly surprised to have a complex conversation about the formation of stars and the nuclear fusion going on at their centre with a boy who would like to join year 8. It is clear that as the reputation of our school grows we are attracting students from all over the city who are excited about our styles of explorative learning and the wide variety of subjects and opportunities at BVIS. I am looking forward to welcoming these students next year to join the outstanding students we already have at BVIS.
U14 Boys and Girls Volleyball Season Comes to a Close
On Wednesday the U14 volleyball teams travelled to their city championships. The boys travelled to the International School of HCMC and the girls travelled to Saigon South International School.
Both teams have played extremely well this season and have won the majority of their friendly games. However the city championship was a big step up as both squads were playing in the top division and against the city’s top volleyball teams. Unfortunately it wasn’t our year and both teams missed out on a trophy, finishing 4th. All players learnt some valuable lessons, which will stand them in good stead for next season.
I was very proud to hear of the level of commitment and perseverance shown by these young ladies. It is easy to remain positive and committed when you are winning, but it shows a real strength of character to keep fighting and performing when you are competing against the tops teams in the city. These girls showed that strength of character this year and I have no doubt that given their level of hard work and commitment, next year they will have even greater success.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your families.
