Principal Update BVIS HCMC

Mr Simon Higham - Principal

Mr. Simon Higham, Principal

Dear Parents

I would like to welcome all of our BVIS HCMC community back to school following the Christmas holiday. A school is only a school when the students are back, and it was great to see so many eager and enthusiastic learners entering our gates this week.

BVIS 1st day of term II 2019

In particular, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new BVIS families who are beginning their journeys with us this term. As I outlined in the ‘New Family Orientation’ Meeting on Monday morning, please do not hesitate to contact your child (rens’) class / form teacher as a first point of contact – asking the question, no matter how big or how small will ultimately make a difference. I wish you all a very successful, learning focused and enjoyable 2019!

Currently, we stand at a 38% response rate and need more families to simply click on live link below and take the survey – it only takes just 15 minutes and will help us to continue to improve the quality of education that we provide at BVIS HCMC.

Comprehensive development for Korean student at BVIS

Continued Improvements

As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement across our school, it was lovely to see the positive reactions relating to our newly refurbished Secondary Foyer area from our Secondary students, on their return to school following the Christmas break.

The idea behind the design was to create a modern and functional social area for our students to meet and socialise outside of the classroom during their break and lunch times.

For more information about this development and pictures of the new social spaces, click here to access this post.

Primary Update BVIS HCMC

rosy

Ms Rosy Clark, Head of Primary

Happy new year and a very warm welcome to all the new families who have joined the Primary School this term. It was lovely to meet you on Monday at our ‘New Family Orientation’ and I hope you all settle smoothly into life at BVIS.

Welcome back everyone else! I hope you had a good break from school routines and a relaxing holiday if you were travelling or took time off as a family.

I love this time of the year in Vietnam. The weather here in Ho Chi Minh City is beautiful right now and, like the rest of the school community, I feel that my batteries are re-charged after such a long term from August through to December. I am excited about our upcoming Tet celebrations and feel energised by the two excellent days we spent at the start of this week with Carol Satterthwaite, our visiting trainer from the UK, who has provided us with some first-class training as well as a thorough audit of our literacy curriculum which we teach using the “Talk4Writing” programme.

Read further the article abour Carol's visit HERE.

BVIS staff returned to school last week in fact, as did some of our families who took advantage of the offer of a ‘taster session’ to learn about the care of a pony, including a short pony ride. There are leaflets available in the school office if you are interested in booking pony lessons for your child in District 7 or District 2.

Secondary Update BVIS HCMC

Jack

Mr Jack Rudin, Head of Secondary

It was lovely to come back to the new improved secondary foyer. We asked the designers to provide a space both inside and out that could be used in lots of ways by our students. We wanted them to be able to socialise and work here and for this to become a social hub for the school. The feedback I have had so far from students has been excellent and it has been a pleasure to see them enjoying the new space.

We are working on more plans for the school environment to continue to further enhance both educational and social facilities around the school.
