Christmas has arrived at BVIS!
We have been celebrating Christmas in the Primary school at BVIS for a week already!
The festive season was welcomed into school by Year 1 as they ‘Turned on the Christmas Lights’. This was a beautiful occasion when the Year 1 children looked and sounded fantastic singing a number of Christmas songs dressed in their Santa hats. Together, the audience and children counted down to switch on the twinkling Christmas tree lights. It was a magical moment!
This week our Christmas festivities continued with Year 2’s wonderful production of “An Out-of-this-World Christmas”. Mechanics, mission control, robots, aliens and astronauts shared the story of how everyone manages to celebrate Christmas on planet Earth despite a crash landing on planet Zork! It was great entertainment for all the Primary classes as well as for our Year 2 parents and other family members. Congratulations to Year 2 for their enthusiastic singing and acting and thank you to all of the staff who helped the children with their performance.
Next week, the Christmas theme continues with the following events:
- EYFS Christmas Sing-a-Long on Wednesday 11th December at 14:00 in the theatre on floor 3. We hope parents and other family members of all our EYFS children will be able to attend this very special occasion.
- Thursday 12th December is a non-uniform day as all EYFS and Primary classes will hold their Christmas parties with Santa’s visit, games, activities and lunch.
- On Friday 13th December at 08:45 in the main hall, the teachers will perform the annual Christmas pantomime. This year the pantomime is “Peter Pan” including all the usual hilarious pantomime features. Our parents and family members are very welcome to come and watch this traditional ending to term one at BVIS.

Blue Dragon Fundraising
Our Student Community Leaders have been working hard over the past 2 weeks to fundraise for the Blue Dragon Christmas Appeal. The charity supports homeless children who do not have safe environments to live in. Our BVIS students decided to design a game ‘Guess the Name of the Dragon’ which was a great success at the BVIS Christmas Fair last week. In total they raised over 12 million VND which will go towards tasty food and meals for all children living at the Blue Dragon centre.
Thank you to students, staff and parents who have supported this cause. Merry Christmas!
It was lovely to see all the children in Year 7 to 10 arriving back from their trips last week. Both the students and the teachers had a tiring and enjoyable week. The school trips are a very important part of our curriculum and in each one we try to include elements of team building, adventurous activities, and community work. The trips offer them opportunities that go beyond the things that most of them have experienced in their day to day lives, broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the natural and cultural environment of this beautiful country.
To see the smiles on the faces of our returning students reinforced to me the importance of these trips within our curriculum. This weekend, please take time to further talk about the experiences of your son/daughter and find out what they learned about themselves (and others) whist attending the trip.
