Currently a Year 3 student at BVIS HCMC, Leo M.K has enjoyed many memorable experiences at the recent I Can Children Global Summit in Rome, Italy.
From 27th to 30th November 2019, 4000 children from 100 countries along with famous people such as Pope Francis, Kiran Sethi – an Educator & Founder of Design For Change (DFC), and the Director of the Leonardo Di Caprio Fund.
During the event, Leo M.K. and his peers from different nationalities presented their sustainable solutions that aim to help solve significant problems around the globe. The project Giving Book – Giving Happiness that was created by Leo and his friends, encouraged adults and children to donate books (old or new) for children who are less fortunate than us. Leo’s team then categorized each book and also arranged distribution to children in schools or areas that do not have access to a library.
His English competencies and confidence allowed Leo to actively participate in all activities and interactive games at this multicultural event, such as sharing dreams on heart-shaped symbols together with origami, teamwork in score games and even a flashmob dance. He was impressed with the message from Pope Frances at Aulo Paulo VI Vatican Hall when the Pope thanked the children for their trust and courage in helping realize their project for environmental and social improvement. Leo also took the opportunity to express his personal kind thoughts and respect towards Kiran Sethi.
