In Year 2 this term, our exciting new Lien Ket topic is ‘Transport’.
Our Entry Point took place on Wednesday 9th September and this offered a unique opportunity to engage our students in their new unit of work.
Entry Points form a vital step for students as they allow them to immerse themselves in their new topics and develop connections with future learning. Entry Points also develop our students’ enquiry skills and help them to ask meaningful questions about their learning.
During our Entry Point, the children were placed into groups and enjoyed many different activities linked to our topic. These activities included:
Looking at and completing some still life drawings of the school bus
Taking a spin on a real life cyclo
Washing some forms of transport
Riding on some smaller forms of transport
and, of course, pretending to be real life drivers! (In the safety of the school grounds).
When we finished this, we came back together as a whole class to discuss our experiences and ask meaningful questions, which will inform our learning for the rest of the unit.
At BVIS we believe in creating meaningful links between children's interests and the curriculum. This helps students to feel they have ownership over their own learning and help them feel motivated to find out more. The children had a fantastic time today, as you can see in the photos, and are enthusiastic about exploring the topic in more depth.
