International Week

On Monday, an aeroplane took off from the main hall runway with hundreds of children travelling to all sorts of exciting destinations.  Some landed in Singapore, others in the Philippines, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, China, India with the final stop being Turkey.  International week had begun for children in Years 1 and 2!  Other year groups had equally as much fun in their entry to learning about the countries their year groups had chosen.   International Week is all about others’ traditions, culture, climate, language and food, which supports our students to develop ‘Global Citizenship’.

Students shared their fantastic findings through a variety of ways in our assembly on Friday.  The presentations of learning demonstrated how interesting and varied countries and cultures are across the globe.

I would like to thank all those involved in preparing and delivering this year’s International week with a special thanks to Ms Emily Purdy, our Lien Ket Coordinator who led the vision and direction of the students’ learning.

Sports Week

This week was not just about international Week.  Each year group took a pause in their learning about countries and others’ cultures and traditions to develop their sporting skills whilst having fun with their friends and teachers.  The annual Sports Week event has been yet again a huge success.

Please follow the link where Mr Steve Kenny, Director of Sport, tells us more about the week and shares the overall house winners.

Y4 Farmers’ Visit

As the new term begins, our students spend time preparing their minds to engage in new learning.  For our Lien Ket topics, this is completed through carefully selected ‘Entry Points’.  Last week, Y4 children were introduced to their new topic named ‘Food and Farming’ through a visit from two farmers who run an organic farm nearby in Nha Be, HCMC.  Mr Nick and Ms Vy gave a presentation to the students about running their farm with intricate details of ensuring their produce grows and survives in the best conditions using sea water.

The visit ended with a practical element where the students went outside to plant their own seeds and prepare to take care of their own produce.

EYFS Oasis

Early Years at BVIS is centred around collaborative free-flow play. Our new classroom layouts facilitate free-flow units where children can freely access both learning environments through a uniquely designed transition space. This allows for the children to have larger learning spaces and interact with all the children and staff and for learning to be as transparent as it deserves to be.  At the heart of our setting now is an ‘Oasis’ of learning opportunities in our open plan shared provision space. In the Oasis the children can access a wider range of resources and learning areas, whilst also and engaging with children from other Early Years classes.

Children’s imaginations are ignited through the enabling environment and range of learning opportunities that we provide in our Early Years at BVIS.  They are supported to be ambitious in initiating their own learning and develop narrative as they play.

Our new bespoke Fundinotots and music room provides a calming environment for our youngest children to explore and engage with their families. If you have a child between the ages of 0 to 5 and are interested in viewing our new bespoke setting, then please contact our admissions team at the link below.

House Trophy Competition

At the end of Term One, Saigon was at the top of the leaderboard so the other houses are now playing catch-up to them. Well done to Saigon but can they keep it going into Term 2? Help your House out where you can!

U15 Boys Football vs SIS

Score: BVIS 3 – 1 SIS

Goals: Minh Khoi, Alex, Michael

Player of the match: Van Khanh Dan Khoi

BVIS hosted SIS in their first game of the season and everyone was very excited to play. It was a tight match with SIS making it highly competitive. BVIS built a 2-0 lead in the first half with some good attacking play. In the second half BVIS were put under pressure a lot and eventually conceded a goal through an unfortunate error. After this BVIS improved their play scoring again, but failed to add further goals despite having a number of good chances.
