Student Health & Wellbeing

At the British Vietnamese International School, we take the health, safety and well-being of our students very seriously, combining caring teaching professionals with global best practice in child safeguarding. Parents can be confident that their children are being very well looked after.

Pastoral Care

The quality of the relationships between students and teachers is very strong. Each student is assigned to a class teacher (Early Years and Primary) or Form Tutor (Secondary), whose responsibility it is to monitor their academic development, advise on opportunities beyond the classroom and encourage social and emotional wellbeing.

These teachers are the main point of contact between parents and the school, although the Heads of Years, Heads of Key Stages, subject teachers and the senior leadership team all have important roles to play in each student’s wellbeing.

Healthy Eating

School meals are cooked on site in the school’s own kitchens. The menus are designed with healthy eating in mind and the school runs a number of initiatives to encourage healthy eating. View our sample lunch menus.

An Active Lifestyle

Our students are encouraged to develop an excellent understanding of how to lead healthy, active lifestyles and to use their time and energy to build new skills, interests and friendships through sport and physical activity. They are encouraged to be competitive but at the same time have a keen sense of fair play.

The PE (Physical Education) Department comprises fully qualified sports specialists who are far more than sports enthusiasts – they are fully-qualified teachers who know how to bring the best out of children.

Safety and Security

BVIS has a strong commitment to the safety and security of its students.  The school is frequently reviewing procedures and practices to ensure your children are safe and practice fire evacuation and lockdown drills are carried out termly. In additional, NAE complete an annual health and safety audit of the school to ensure the school meets international expectations.

The school campus is walled and gated, with security guards on every entrance. Campus safety and security is managed by the school Business Director and is ultimately the responsibility of the Principal.
