Students from Bandera Azul made individual projects during the last semester. This is a brief review of what kind of projects they did.

As a group

  • Volunteer hours at Sarapiquí. For more information about this project, follow this link. (poner el link del viaje)

  • No more plastic at the cafeteria during lunch and break.

  • Sabana Park cleanup (we collected 5 garden bags (the big big ones))

  • BYWB project: Bring your own bottle.  

 

Coming soon (2019 - 2020)

  • We are going to replace the take-out containers with biodegradable plastic.

  • Compost garden collaboration with Impacto lead by Jacobo Guzowski, Camilo Velez and Sydney Winter.  

  • We are going to buy more recycling bin stations.

 

Group #1 led by Camilo Velez (Sophomore)

They put 2 vertical gardens (each one has 4 pots) in front of Mr Harmon’s room. They planted green beans and apples. Unfortunately, they didn’t grow as we expected.

Hanging garden kitchen spices - They did bake sales and dress down days to collect money for buying the materials. They collected 47 thousand colones. The goal is cafeteria stuff can use them when they cook.


 

Group #3 led by Sebastián Agüero (Sophomore)

They did a collaboration with BAC - Credomatic and they will put big and creative banners in all the offices. The goal is to inform CDS students about positives facts of recycling.


 

Group #4 led by José Andrés Zamora (Sophomore)

They planned and lead the celebration for Earth Day all around the school. They met with all the principals and they approved the lesson plan made by the team. This team planned activities for all the houses with essential questions, videos, appreciations and final reflections.   

Also, they did research and they realized paper towel is more environmental friendly than hand dryers.
