She began her studies as a primary music teacher, shifted to teaching general primary in Australia and over the years and places, focused on teaching English to primary, secondary, as well as adult students. When Ashley returned to Canada, she started teaching university preparation courses for foreign students moving to Canada to study, where she then became an IELTS examiner and was teaching IELTS, TOFEL and CAE exam preparation courses. The base of her teaching philosophy is to guide students in their education through student-focused learning in an encouraging, challenging and inclusive environment to reach their fullest potential.
Ashley moved to Switzerland in 2017 with her husband and son. She began working at LCIS in August 2019 as a primary and secondary EAL (English Additional Language) teacher. She still holds her love of music close to her and directs extra-curricular choral activities and in her free time, she sings in a choir in Lausanne. She speaks English and French, is passionate about travel and the cultural exchanges it brings, enjoys camping and will take any opportunity to go fishing for the day!
