Dear Parents,
It has been lovely to welcome back our students following the Spring Break. This week is a shorter one for our students, but it remains a busy and important time. Our IGCSE and IB examinations are now in full swing, and I want to acknowledge the tremendous effort that both staff and students have put into preparing for this examination season. I would also like to wish all those involved the very best of luck.
Meanwhile, the school has been vibrant and full of enthusiasm as we celebrate World Book Week. The book fair was a huge success and the buzz around campus around reading has been a pleasure to witness. I am very much looking forward to seeing students and staff in their creative costumes for tomorrow’s World Book Week Dress Up Day.
Wishing all our families a restful and enjoyable long weekend.
Head of Year 11 Update – Mrs. Jennings
As we enter the exam period, I want to take a moment to celebrate the focus and determination our Year 11 students have shown. Last week, we implemented a bespoke timetable that allowed students to meet with all their teachers at least once before study leave commenced. Additionally, we hosted a mental health seminar in partnership with Central Health Hong Kong, focusing on strategies for managing exam stress.
On the final day of school, we celebrated their growth and achievements in a special assembly. Staff members shared heartfelt reflections on the resilience and adaptability our students have demonstrated, as well as the strong sense of community they have fostered. We are immensely proud of how far they have come, and it is truly inspiring to witness their development throughout their school journey.
We are pleased to see that our students have had a strong start to their study leave and exam season. Language speaking exams, English orals, and the Art exam all showcased students building their confidence and performing well. As they continue to tackle their assessments, we encourage everyone to prioritise their studies while also maintaining their well-being. This exam period is lengthy, so finding a balance between rest and study is essential. Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement at home. Together, we look forward to celebrating their achievements in the coming weeks!
IB Co-Ordinator’s Update – Mr. Spanos
Year 13
Our Year 13s will be starting their final International Baccalaureate Examinations on Monday 28th April. This is the culmination of two years of hard work and effort.
On the final week before the Easter break, we had a series of celebrations to include a dress in the theme of the 2000s morning which was the decade our Year 13s were born in.
Students also enjoyed dressing up in some weird and wonderful ways for ‘ugly clothes’ day.
On the final day we had a Year 13 breakfast to see our Year 13s off for the Easter break and onto study leave.
The whole NAIS Hong Kong community wishes our Year 13s the best of luck in their IB Examinations, and we look forward to celebrating on Friday 30th May for the Year 13 Graduation!
World Book Week – Mrs. Turner-Fall
Last week, Secondary Book Week kicked off with incredible energy! Students were buzzing with excitement as they explored the two-day Fun to Read Book Fair and eagerly participated in the annual book trivia extravaganza quiz.
This week’s events promise even more fun with live and recorded book talks, bookish games and NYT puzzles, along with engaging art and photography competitions and lunchtime translation activities. However, the highlight of the week is sure to be Tuesday! Get ready to dress up as your favorite book characters, have a blast, and truly embrace the reading spirit.
We can’t wait to see everyone in the following “genre” inspired costumes - these can be a character or something more abstract to represent a certain book or genre:
Don't forget, there are fabulous Literary Gift Company prizes for both students and staff. All competition winners will be announced on Wednesday during form time.
Upcoming International Day – Mrs. Rankin
We are delighted to announce that International Day will be celebrated on Friday 13th June. This special occasion is an opportunity for us to come together as a community and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes our school so unique. Throughout the week, students will participate in a variety of activities designed to explore and appreciate different cultures from around the world. On the day itself, we invite all students to wear their national dress, showcasing the vibrant traditions and heritage they are proud of. International Day is a wonderful way to promote understanding, respect, and unity among our students, reflecting the inclusive spirit of our school. We look forward to a colourful and inspiring celebration and thank you for your continued support in making this event a success.
Looking Ahead
Best Regards,
Fiona Thorndike
