Dear Parents,

Last week’s summer concert was a fantastic way to round off the academic term. The students were superb and demonstrated real passion and commitment collectively. Well done to all our performers and a huge thank you to the Music Department.

We wish Sienna, Marcus, and Angel the very best for the NAE UNICEF conference in Houston. We look forward to sharing our findings and learnings with the school community.

It is Prizegiving on Wednesday and an opportunity to mark and celebrate all the hard work and achievements of the year. We will then wave all students off campus on Friday 27th June at 12 noon. Year 7 students return to school on Friday 15th August from 8.30am to 11.30am. The first day for all other year groups will be Monday 18th August.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the school, wishing all our families a great summer ahead.

Head of Y7 – Cormac Cunningham

“With transition comes opportunity”. This saying resonates with me when thinking of our current Year 7 students. They have embraced the change that comes with moving to Secondary school and have grabbed every opportunity which has come their way. They have shown tremendous progress in both their academic pursuits and personal development, embracing the challenges they encountered with enthusiasm.

Throughout the year, students have actively participated in a wide range of activities, from sports such as our football, badminton, swimming, basketball and volleyball teams to showcasing their talents in music and drama. Year 7 students’ contribution to the “The Lord of the Flies” was exceptional. Additionally, they have enthusiastically joined various ECAs and participated in school trips during our enrichment week. Whether they went to Yangzhou, Prague or benefited from our Hong Kong options, students had the opportunity to enhance their learning experiences and forge strong friendships.

Year 7 have also shown outstanding kindness and willingness to help others through their futures projects. They have raised an incredible amount (over HKD 18,000) by fundraising for their year group charity Drop of Life. Not only have they developed their communication and organisational skills, they have also made a huge difference to the life of others.

Their willingness to engage in these activities has not only enhanced their skills but also contributed to a lively and inclusive school community. It has been truly rewarding to see them thrive and grow during this important transitional year.

Head of Y8 – Ryan Sayce

Year 8 have had a fantastic year tackling new challenges and furthering their knowledge in each subject. This year, our year group have matured greatly showing just how kind and respectful they are to one another, staff and the wider community. Through the fundraising CAS/Futures Framework projects each form has had the opportunity to raise money for those who are in need within the local community, showing that they are really embodying these values.

There have been plenty of students actively choosing sports, subjects and activities out of their comfort zone this year. From fencing to MUN, Orchestra to swimming, our Year 8s have shown that they are ready to try, practice and compete at the highest levels of competition and come out on top. We have students displaying outstanding courage and open-mindedness when approaching these challenges.

As the Head of Year for the previous two academic years, it has been a privilege to watch our students grow and mature and to help them find the right path for the future. It has been an outstanding academic year full of Academic, Extracurricular and personal highs. Have a relaxing summer and we look forward to welcoming you back for Year 9!!

Head of Y9 - Emily O’Malley

It has been a pleasure to see our Year 9 students mature this year as they get ready for their transition to Key Stage 4. While there has been much focus on academic performance and IGCSE Pathways, Year 9 have continued to represent their cohort with confidence outside of the classroom too. These have ranged from the unique – from some building a family home in Cambodia to others finding themselves stranded on an island for the dramatic Lord of the Flies performance – to slightly more traditional - baking cakes for fundraising events and representing the school on the sports fields. Throughout these and other experiences, Year 9 have faced their challenges head on and are shaping up to be a cohort which will surely ‘leave a legacy’ for incoming Key Stage 3 students. I encourage our Year 9s to take courage from these successes as they begin their IGCSE courses this August and wish them a wonderful summer break.

Head of Y10 & 11 – Caroline Jennings

As we approach the summer break, I want to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable progress our Y10 students have made. Throughout the year, they have experienced significant growth, particularly in the past few weeks, demonstrating incredible resilience and determination after their end-of-year exams. The insightful learning conversations that have emerged have been truly impressive, and students should take pride in their accomplishments this year.

Looking ahead, we know that next year will bring new challenges and milestones as we prepare for the IGCSE exams. I encourage you to view this summer as an opportunity for your child to reset and recharge, building the energy needed for the exciting journey ahead.

It has been an absolute privilege to be head of KS4 for the past 2 years. Thank you for letting me share in your successes and triumphs and allowing me to be part of your growth and progress!

Wishing you all a wonderful summer, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for Y11!

Head of Y12 & 13 – Colin Spanos

Year 12

Dear Year 12 Parents and Students,

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding school year, I want to take a moment to congratulate you on all your hard work, resilience, and growth. You’ve earned a well-deserved summer break with time to relax, recharge, and spend time with family and friends.

That said, the IB journey doesn’t pause entirely during the holidays! Over the summer, it is important to spend time completing the academic tasks you've set to include Extended Essay milestones, Internal Assessment completion, reading assignments and IB subject foci. You also have time to reflect and act upon your University/College application plans. Work over the summer will give you a strong foundation for the next academic year and help reduce the amount of work for Year 13 when things get busier.

Later this week you will receive a complete summary list of the content covered in Year 12 and the content still to be covered in Year 13. Your summer homework tasks will also be shared by your individual subject teachers, and you will receive a hyperlink to one key textbook resource for reference for each subject.

Balance is key over the summer. Please rest, explore and have fun but don’t forget to chip away at your goals. Your future self will thank you!

Best wishes,
Mr Spanos and the IB Team

Year 13

Dear Year 13 Parents and Students,

We were delighted to celebrate the recent Year 13 Graduation with students, parents, family and friends.
We now turn our attention to the IB results which will be released to students on Sunday 6th July at 12.00pm Greenwich Mean Time which is 8.00pm Hong Kong time.

The IB Team will send out instructions to parents and students this week explaining how IB results can be accessed.

We wish our Year 13 students every success with their upcoming IB results!

Best wishes,
Mr Spanos and the IB Team

Summer Concert – Debbie Yu

Tuesday evening was the perfect way to round off the year for our talented Music ECAs. A total of 92 students were involved in showcasing their talents within multiple ensembles, and we followed our annual tradition of using the End of Year Summer Concert to feature our most talented Year 12 IBDP music students. Leo P and Cory W joined forces with other non-music IB students to form a jazz ensemble, opening the concert and setting the tone for an evening of high-quality music making. Frances L led the Cello section in all our Orchestral performances while Natalie K led the flute section in orchestra, as well as playing a pivotal role playing the piano and accompanying our award-winning Chamber Choir. Jasmine S and Harrison T performed as soloists presenting their talents in leading a trio, and the school orchestra through excerpts of concertos - highly elaborate and virtuosic pieces composed for musicians to show off their skills.

From our youngest Year 7s to our stalwart Year 12s, the standard of performances with our musicians has reached new heights, and we are so proud to be performing works of such a complex nature. From Bach to Vivaldi, Hamilton to La La Land, theme music from Lord of the Rings and The Bad Batch, a wide variety of soloists, ensembles and musicians tackled the tunes and performed with passion and flare.

We look forward to continuing to grow the talent of our NAIS HK musicians and encourage any students who may be interested in joining any one or more of our multiple ECAs, or even forming their own ensembles, to get involved. There's always space to share and develop your talents, and everyone is welcome!
Thank you to everyone who performed and to everyone who came to support; it truly was an incredible evening of music making.
