Secondary Campus Weekly Update 9 Feb 2026

Dear Parents,

A very warm welcome to this week’s update.

We are currently celebrating Lunar New Year across the school—the Year of the Horse, which symbolises energy, confidence and moving forward with purpose. This week, our students will be engaging in wonderful activities that embody the spirit of the festival: KS3 students are creating button pictures and designing red packets, while KS4 and KS5 students will be making dumplings together. There's something really special about seeing students come together with kindness and respect as they participate in these traditions. Our special assembly this Friday will include a Lion Dance and student performances, and I very much look forward to celebrating with our whole community. I wish all our families a happy and prosperous New Year.

As we enter this period, we also recognise that Ramadan begins on Tuesday 17th February. To all those in our community observing this holy month, we send our warmest wishes and blessings.

Year 11 & 13 Parents' Evening will take place on Wednesday 25th February, from 3.00pm to 7.30pm. Appointments can be booked online via School Cloud from Wednesday 11th February. This is an important opportunity to discuss your child's mock exam results and their next steps. Please look out for booking details, which will be sent directly to parents this week.

For our Year 11 students, this is also a key moment as they consider their Post-16 pathways. With both IBDP and A-Level options available from next year at our new Hung Hom campus, we are supporting every student to make a confident, well-informed choice about their future.

Safer Internet Day is this Tuesday, 10th February. This year's theme focuses on using AI responsibly. We'll be talking with students about making safe and ethical choices online, and we encourage you to continue these conversations at home—asking what they enjoy online, and how we can all use technology wisely.

In other news, congratulations to our Academic Cup team, who defended our title in a thrilling final against the British International School of Nanjing last Friday. Well done to all involved for their brilliant teamwork and determination.

Sports Day for Secondary students will be held on Thursday 5th March at the Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground. Students should arrive by 8:15am wearing their House tops and PE kit, and bring water, snacks and sun protection. Parents are welcome to attend—please register in advance if you plan to join us.

Finally, a well done to our U14 and U16 Boys Badminton teams, who have started their seasons with great spirit and effort. We look forward to more matches ahead.

Thank you for your continued support.

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 9 Feb 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 9 Feb 2026

In lessons, our Year 11 students are now reflecting on their performance in our recent Mock Exams as we move into an important period of consultation and decision making on their future pathways. We are thrilled to present our students with both IBDP and A-Level pathways for the first time, facilitated by the opening of our brand-new campus in Hung Hom for the 2026-27 academic year.

Year 11 students will be provided with guidance regarding Post-16 Pathways to ensure they make a fully informed and supported choice regarding their future course selection. As part of this process, our Post 16 Pathways Intention form will be sent to all Year 11 families on Thursday 12th February. Students are encouraged to discuss their preferences for either the IBDP or A-Level pathways with their parents and subsequently select their preferred subject options for their next and final chapter in their Secondary education.

Academic Cup Final

NAIS HK Knights clinch the trophy!
In a hard-fought contest on Friday afternoon, the NAIS HK Academic Cup team of Siena C, Isabella CG, Aarshi G and Jihoo K emerged victorious in the NAE CIS Academic Cup final over the visiting British International School of Nanjing team. The NAE event led by BIS Nanjing Principal, Mr. Shephard captivated our Year 12 and 13 students in the audience, with our Knight’s knowledge of Music and Literature proving decisive in the end over tough opposition from the team from Nanjing. NAIS HK taking the honours to be crowned back-to-back academic cup champions with a 130 – 115 point victory.

Safer Internet Day Information - Tuesday 10th February

This week, our school will join millions worldwide in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2026 on Tuesday, 10th February. Marked in around 170 countries, this global event highlights the shared responsibility of keeping children safe online.

This year’s theme, “Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI,” reflects the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in everyday life, from chatbots and voice assistants to content recommendations. At Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong, we encourage students to Grow an Open Mind, embracing new technologies while learning to use them responsibly.

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 9 Feb 2026 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 9 Feb 2026

Why This Matters

As AI becomes more embedded in learning and leisure, students need the skills and confidence to make safe, ethical choices. While AI can support creativity, learning, and communication, it also brings risks such as misinformation, scams, and harmful content. By guiding students now, we help them Live with Integrity, making the right choices online even when no one is watching.

How You Can Support at Home

Parents play a vital role in making Safer Internet Day meaningful. We encourage you to talk with your child about their digital experiences and consider these tips:

  • Explore technology together and discuss both the benefits and risks of AI tools.
  • Encourage critical thinking about whether AI-generated information is always accurate or unbiased.
  • Model kindness and respect online by asking whether the content you create could help or harm others.
  • Use safety and parental controls on devices and AI-enabled tools.
  • Remind your child they can always speak to a trusted adult if something feels wrong online.

Conversation starters might include:

  • “What do you enjoy most online?”
  • “Have you used AI before? How did it feel?”
  • “How can I help you feel safer online?”

At School

Students will take part in activities exploring AI ethics and responsible digital habits. We aim to inspire them to Be Ambitious and Choose Courage as they navigate an ever-evolving digital world.

By working together at school and at home, we can help our children stay safe online and Leave a Legacy they can be proud of.

CNY Special

Our students will be celebrating Chinese New Year through both in-class activities and a formal assembly experience. In the classroom, KS3 students are creating button pictures inspired by the Year of the Horse and designing traditional red packets to explore festive colors, symbols, and good-luck messages. KS4 and KS5 students in Years 10 and 12 will take part in dumpling-making, giving them a hands-on opportunity to learn about the cultural importance of sharing food at New Year.

These learning experiences will lead into our formal Chinese New Year Assembly on Friday 13 February for Period 1 and Period 2, where a traditional Lion Dance will arrive at around 11:00 a.m. to bring luck and excitement to our school community. The assembly will feature instrumental performances on guzheng, flute, piano, and violin, along with singing, Chinese dances, and poetry recitations that showcase students’ talents and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture. We will also announce the latest house points, recognising students’ hard work and celebrating their achievements as we welcome the New Year together. We look forward to celebrating this festival with all our families and wish every NAIS HK family a very happy and prosperous Year of the Horse.

Kellett Sustainability Conference

Six of our students, (Year 9 - Gabrielle Lee, Fangyi Zhu, Darren Wong and Clayton Yip, Year 10 - Bella Chan and Year 11 - Hono Kamiya) proudly represented NAIS HK at the annual Kellett School Sustainability Conference over the weekend. They had the opportunity to learn about sustainable practices from key industry leaders and take part in collaborative workshops with students from international schools across the region, exploring meaningful solutions to the global climate crisis.

The day featured an inspiring keynote from award‑winning filmmaker Craig Leeson, whose message encouraged students to take action in their own communities. Our students returned from the conference motivated to drive positive change within our NAIS community.

A special mention goes to Clayton, who demonstrated our NAIS HK value of Choosing Courage and Being Ambitious by volunteering to join the student panel discussion and sharing our school’s SDG focus and ongoing environmental initiatives with all the attendees.
