Our secondary school education

Our secondary students follow the National Curriculum for England, which culminates in their IGCSE exams at 16.

Designed to fit our unique secondary school environment in the Philippines, our enhanced British curriculum is an innovative, challenging, and creative programme. Combining the highest standards of subject teaching with exhilarating learning opportunities and personalised wellbeing support, it develops the knowledge and attributes our students need to succeed at IGCSE level and beyond.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)

Our students study English, maths, science, geography, history, drama, music, art, graphic design, digital technology, and PE. They also choose two languages. This gives them a flavour of what it would be like to study each subject at IGCSE level, helping them to make their choices at the end of Year 9.

Subjects are taught by our specialist teachers. They encourage active involvement and critical thinking, as well as independent learning. In each subject, for example, our teachers will support your child to assess their own work, identify areas for development, and establish clear goals. Our students are also taught to take educated risks, because making mistakes is a vital part of the learning process.

Project work is an essential component of our secondary curriculum, too. Students work both individually and in groups, developing important collaboration and problem-solving skills.

All our Key Stage 3 students take part in our Confident Speakers Programme, through which they’re encouraged to speak publicly at least once per year. This could be at an assembly, presenting to school visitors, or at a Parents’ Forum.

IGCSE curriculum (Years 10-11)

Our two-year IGCSE programme, offered by the Cambridge Examination Board, is academically rigorous and recognised across the world. The subjects we offer include specific international elements and content, which have been developed by specialists to make learning relevant to students worldwide.

Our students typically study nine or ten subjects. Your child will follow a personalised curriculum based on their academic strengths and interests, as well as their ambitions for the future. At NAIS Manila, every student takes English language, English literature, maths, science (combined), geography, history, Chinese, art, and PE.

Our IGCSE courses are engaging and stimulating, and teaching is designed to support our students’ academic and personal development. Our approach caters for a variety of learning styles; for students who like to work independently or in a group, as well as those who prefer to get ‘hands-on’ or immerse themselves in theory.

Your child will also take part in a variety of activities that complement their academic studies. These include life-changing trips, as well as creative, sporting, social, and outreach opportunities.

AN EDUCATION THAT IGNITES GREATNESS

At Nord Anglia International School Manila, your child will enjoy a truly holistic education that nurtures every aspect of their growth. This provides the foundations they need to flourish, both now and in the future.
