NAIS Pudong Scholarships
As our students depart for their Christmas holidays, we reflect on what has been a very busy first term. From international trips to the USA with UNICEF, STEAM visits to MIT, trekking expeditions to Switzerland, or sports competitions in Thailand, our students have certainly been busy. We also had wonderfully successfully Enrichment Week and Social Impact travels around China, supporting many communities in need and offering our students some valuable team-building and self-development opportunities. Our trips continue as soon as January arrives, with Maths competitions in Kuala Lumpur, TEDx talks in Beijing, Winter Sports activities in Switzerland, and a service project in Tanzania before Chinese New Year even arrives!
On campus, we’ve hosted multiple ‘Tuesday Talks’ for our parents and welcomed Industry Experts to inspire our students. Our incredible new staff have enriched our teaching & learning provision, and our campus continues to improve all the time with new facilities and improved aesthetics (with our brand new swimming pool due to open in early January too!)
Our PCA have, as always, supported multiple events, from Welcome Back Picnics, Coffee Mornings, Movie Nights, Teacher Appreciation Day, and an array of activities for other parents such as English and Mandarin lessons, city walks, flower arranging classes, yoga, and much more! In turn, we’ve supported our parents – and our Shanghai community – with some excellent events, including our Bonfire Night and this week’s Christmas Fair, which really helped to get everyone in the spirit of Christmas.
Congratulations to our Festive Art Competition Winners, Angelina F from Year 7, Duke Y from Year 8, and Shirley S from Year 9, as well as our ‘People’s Choice vote winner, Eashan B from Year 9. And a massive thank you to everyone who donated blood at the Fair – every one of you are literal life savers!
And it’s on that note that we wish you – our outstanding community – a wonderfully Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming our students back for the first day of Term Two on Monday 6th January.
Thank you to our Gold event sponsors Wild China Education and Santa Fe Relo for their ongoing commitment to our school community, without whom we would struggle to create such wonderful events. Thanks also to our Bronze Sponsor, Pure Smile, for being a great supporter of NAIS Pudong at both this event and in past ones.
In the final of our series of alumni spotlight articles, we speak with Matthew Ward, a professional football player in England who spent six years at NAIS Pudong before departing in 2019 to take up his current role as an elite sports star!
At NAIS Pudong, we strive to achieve our values, one element of which is building confidence in our students to help them better prepare for life after education. But what about building the confidence to question one’s approach and strategy in tacking tasks or ideas?
On the last day of Term One, Principal Diane Vaughan conducted the termly Principal's Awards, this time celebrating the outstanding contributions of students who exemplify one of the school's core values of being considerate.
On 9th and 10th of December years 7-9 students were given the chance to debate on a given present-day topic. A debate is a structured discussion where individuals present and defend their viewpoints on a topic, aiming to persuade others with well-supported arguments.
