Giselle Carreno-Tabraue

AP/IB Biology Teacher, Science Department Chair

With over a decade of experience in STEAM curriculum development and science education, I bring both structure and imagination to the classroom. My background in the arts and sciences has shaped the way I teach—I believe learning should be creative, interdisciplinary, and grounded in real-world relevance. I specialize in aligning science instruction across grade levels and creating opportunities for students to build future-ready skills through inquiry, critical thinking, and innovation.

As an AP and IB Biology teacher, I find joy in translating complex scientific concepts into engaging lessons that make sense to all learners. I believe science is for everyone, and one of my greatest passions is helping students overcome their fear of “hard” topics by making them feel seen, capable, and curious. I strive to make biology meaningful, alive, and unforgettable.

A magical teaching moment for me is when a student experiences a shift in how they see the world—and themselves. It’s the quiet “aha” when someone who thought they weren’t good at science suddenly leads a lab investigation, asks a thoughtful question, or shares that they’re now considering a future in medicine, research, or environmental work. Those moments of discovery and confidence-building are the heart of what I do.

I believe every student has the potential to be a scientist, an innovator, and a changemaker. My mission is to unlock that potential by designing learning experiences that are rigorous, inclusive, and full of wonder. Education isn’t just about what students learn—it’s about who they become.
