Year 5 Shadow Puppets

Last half term, Year 5 visited Wat Kanom in Ratchaburi Province. This temple is famous for it’s shadow puppets and is famous across Thailand for reviving the ancient skill of storytelling through shadow puppets. The students got to see some of the old puppets as well as watching a performance put on by the students of the Wat Kanom school. Following this the students all had a go at making their own cardboard shadow puppets.

Back in school the students re-wrote some traditional tales as playscripts to perform with the shadow puppets that they designed and made. I was lucky enough to go along and watch some of these performances. The children did a great job of bringing the stories to life with their puppets. You can see some of the children’s work on display in the stairwell between floors 5 & 6 in the KS2 building.

Parents Consultations

Last week you should have received the consultation appointment request form by email. The teachers have been adding the times to their appointment sheets and these will be shared with you today as confirmation. Please keep checking back if you have recently made a request.

The consultations run over two weeks beginning on Monday 14th November (apart from Year 4 who have their second consultation day on Thursday 2nd December). In KS2 each year group hosts their consultations on a different day as follows:

Monday - Year 6
Tuesday - Year 5
Wednesday - Year 3
Thursday - Year 4

If you have not made a consultation yet, there is still time complete the form to request a time. Please note that popular times are already becoming fully booked. If your requested time is no longer available, the teachers will offer you a suitable alternative.
