There were lots of interesting activities last week as we focused as a school on sustainability. I know from these activities and the different groups that are now up and running that this will not be a one off event and hopefully lead to changes in our practise that means the school operates effectively and sustainability. Thank you to all our staff, parents and outside providers who came into school to put on these activities to raise awareness of this very important area.
Year 13 Theatre Arts Solo Examinations
This week the year 13 Theatre Arts students will be performing their solo examination pieces, I look forward to seeing these on Thursday after school. The pieces I have seen during rehearsals have certainly been very powerful and thought provoking. I know you will join me in wishing them the best of luck in these very challenging examination pieces.
MUN and TEDx
It is hard to believe that we are already well into this second half of term 1. There is certainly lots going on across the school in all areas. This last weekend had our Model United Nations (MUN) held at our school taking place all day on Sunday. I know there would have been lots of fierce debate from the delegates from all the international schools that attended. Next weekend we have the TEDX conference again on the Sunday. This has some very interesting presenter’s and again an excellent opportunity for our school community to hear about current issues in this area.
BTEC Taster Session
On Friday, 11 November 2016, students from year 11 and 12 had the opportunity to go and create dishes in a working professional kitchen at Steps with Theera last weeks as part of a BTEC taster session. St. Andrews International School Bangkok is very proud to be running the BTEC Entry Level 3 and Level 1 Hospitality Award and Certificate course from January 2017, linking closely with local businesses such as Steps with Theera (Café/coffee shop and vocational training centre on Ekkamai Soi 10).
