It has been great going around the school during the week seeing all the activities happening in the different year groups. There is a very positive atmosphere with everyone enjoying their learning.
Another amazingly busy weekend with lots of activities taking place. A special thank you to the Year 12 TEDx team working closely with Mr Kevin who put on a fantastic conference on Sunday that was sold out and very well received by all who attended.
Our STA Marlins were at the NIST Falcons swim meet last weekend and performed very well with some outstanding individual performances as well as a great team spirit and effort. There are more details later in the newsletter… Congratulations to all who competed and attended.
Harrow Bangkok Cup
We took 5 teams to the Harrow Bangkok Cup on Sunday which involved all the best school football teams in Bangkok. All the STA teams were fantastic and worked so hard for each other. The U11 Boys were champions beating ISB in the final 2-1. The U13 girls played some lovely football and were beaten on penalties in the final. All the other teams played well and came 3rd and 4th. Thank you to all the support of the parents.
At this time of year the senior management team focuses on planning next year’s curriculum and particularly our staffing requirements. All our teachers who are coming to the end of their current contract have been asked to let us know by 1st December whether they would like to continue with their contracts. Many discussions with teachers have been very positive and we expect a low number of teachers to be leaving us at the end of this academic year which is great.
With the addition of the new campus additional teaching positions have been advertised on our web page and internationally in the Guardian newspaper through their online teacher recruitment tool. So far we have had a very good response with a large amount of excellent candidates to consider. This will be undertaken over the next three months with lots of initial skype interviews followed up by school visits and teaching observations, wherever logistically possible. This process allows us to see first hand how teachers will respond in our learning environment and school community. I will attend the January Nord Anglia Education Recruitment fair that is held in London for three days to hopefully finalise our appointments for next academic year.
