At Build Something Awesome Club - part of St. Andrews' extensive extracurricular activities programme - students are challenged to think independently and to use their science, technology and engineering skills and knowledge in exciting and creative projects. These projects are driven by the students' own interests.
Since the start of term our Build Something Awesome members have been working on building and programming robots. This week some of our Year 7 and 8 students were working on soldering together the chassis for their robot, on which they will mount their programmable microcomputer.
This microcomputer - to be programmed by the students themselves - will enable their robots to drive around autonomously. The robots will sense their surroundings and avoid obstacles, operating on the codes the students will create and upload to the microcomputer that sits on the top of each bot.
We're really excited about the testing phase - watch this space for progress updates!
