Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of the jam-packed first term of 2016-17. I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year and I hope that you all have a very restful holiday wherever in the world you may be celebrating the festive season.
KS2 Festive Quiz
In Friday morning’s assembly, which is our last KS2 assembly of 2016, I hosted the BIG Ho-Ho-House Festive Quiz, along with the help of Mrs Leanne. One child from each class was selected to make up the house teams who were competing for valuable house points. The quiz was made up of festive general knowledge questions, anagrams and a bonus name the reindeers round. After an amazing display of teamwork and quizzing skills, the overall winners were Lahu.
Well done to all of the students who took part in the quiz. See if you can answer some of the questions that the students faced. The answers appear at the bottom of this page.
- On which day of the week is Christmas Day this year?
- In which country is Santa known as Babbo Natale?
- Which festival, starting on the evening of the 24th December, is known as the ‘Festival of Lights’ ?
- In which modern day country is Saint Nicholas’s (Father Christmas’s) birthplace and town?
- BONUS: Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? (CLUE: There are 9 altogether)
Next Thursday is our annual Christmas concert, in which all of KS2 will be performing. Parents are invited to come along and celebrate this festive event with the students. Years 3-5 are performing at 1.45 pm. The Year 6 students will start at 4 pm. You will be also be able to attend the Christmas fair between the performances.
*Please note that there will be no late bus service on Thursday. The only departure will be the 2.45 pm buses.
KS2 Residential trips
Thank you to all of the parents who came along to the residential meetings on Wednesday and Thursday. We hope the insight into what your children are going to be getting up to, a glimpse at where they will be staying and an understanding of all of the thorough preparation that goes into planning these trips helps put you at ease. These trips are a fantastic way to help develop the whole child and provide experiences beyond those provided in the classroom.
Christmas Gift Boxes
We are seeking your help in preparing some Christmas gift boxes. These gifts will all be delivered to The Bangkok Refugee Centre for distribution to the children there. They will help to make Christmas a special time for the children, many of whom have arrived in Thailand with little or no personal possessions. Please carefully label the boxes to identify whether it is suitable for a boy, a girl or either, and the age range it is suitable for. The presents should be placed under the Christmas tree in the school office.
