This week the Art Department has welcomed back textiles and fashion expert Sunderta, who has been teaching Year 12 artists all about the textiles industry. Sunderta has a wealth of experience working in fashion houses and design companies as a buyer and designer, and has lectured at Raffles Design Institute. Students have been instructed in garment manufacture and fabric properties and have worked on gestural figure drawing, as used by fashion designers when creating outfits. As part of the IB Visual Arts curriculum, students are required to gain experience of a variety of media, processes and techniques. Working with textiles will certainly enhance their learning experience and provide a great foundation for those who may wish to study in the clothing or fashion industries in the future.
