Sport: Swim Champs cool down STA swimmers while tennis heats up

Updates on football, basketball, swimming, athletics, tennis and a reminder of upcoming events for High School, Primary School … and parents.

Primary School Sport

It’s been another busy week and weekend for Primary Sport with the STA Swim Champs and also the BISAC U11 tennis tournament that we hosted.

In lessons our groups have changed sports and are enjoying their new class whether it be dance, gymnastics, yoga or athletics/football. We have been busy looking at our possible athletes to go to our first BISAC Athletics meet. We have now got a team of 20 children ready to go and compete against the best athletes in Bangkok on the 9th November.

Basketball

The Boys and girls played at ASB on Thursday 2nd. Both teams were dominant and won convincingly. Also, our U11 Girls drew a tight game in their TISAC league and remained undefeated, which clinched them the TISAC league Championship. This means that both our U11 Boys and Girls have won their TISAC Leagues. Our teams have a few more games in the coming weeks in preparation for the NAE Games and they are looking very well prepared.

NAE Games

With only 4 weeks to go until we host the Games we are busy organizing this exciting tournament for our U11 children.

Tour tops and STA sports bag should be purchased at the uniform shop and please if you haven’t already got it done, could you bring your PE t-shirt to Khung Seung in the PE office to get your teeball logo printed on it.

Soon we will be in touch to welcome all NAE parents in for a meeting, to give you more info about the Games and to put your mind at ease about any concerns you may have.

The last 2 Wednesday’s before the Games we will hopefully going over to Arsenal on soi 21 to play teeball on the bigger field. In past FOBISIA Games and last years NAE Games this has really helped our preparation.

Tennis

On Sunday we hosted our first BISAC Tennis invitational tournament with over 80 Primary children involved. We had 9 Primary STA children who were fantastic in tough conditions for tennis. Our tennis programme has developed hugely over the last 3 months and it’s great see our children competing at this high level.

Swimming

On Saturday the 4th we had our 2017 Swim Champs at the High School. It was great to see so many of our Primary swimmers enjoying the competition and competing against their friends. We have a big swim competition coming up with the ISB swim meet on Sunday 12th November. Thank you to the children, parents and teachers for making it such a fantastic day.

A Letter from the Swimming Department

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Swimming Department, we would like to say thank you to all of you for such wonderful support on this past Saturday at our 5th Annual STA Swim Championships. We saw a huge improvements made by our swimmers and many personal best times were beaten. I am proud to say that the meet itself was a success because of this, and in terms of how smoothly it ran. We do hope that you and your children enjoyed the event and we will see you all again at the Marlins Swim Championships in March 2018.

Best regards
Swimming Department

STA Community Sports Day

On Saturday, 18th November, we’ll have our second Community Sports Day, open to all of our parents, staff and alumni. We are starting to prepare for this now with our PTG, who will provide food for the event.

The day will be held at High School, with volleyball, football and badminton on offer, as well a free swim and table tennis for the kids.

We’ve had many sign up, with several football and volleyball teams and lots of badminton players. If you’d like to be involved in the fun, please complete the survey contained in the email from Miss Aanchal or get in touch with her.
