Fantastic Musical Events and Visitors
We are very excited to be beginning term 3 with 4 special events and visits. Here’s what to expect over the next 2 weeks:
TISAC Primary Choral Day
This Thursday, we are delighted to be welcoming 9 TISAC schools to St. Andrews for the Primary Choral Day. We have a varied programme of new repertoire for the children to learn and they will perform as a 230 voice choir in a concert at 1:30pm. Please join us in the Sports Hall if you are able to.
EY Music and Movement Workshops
This Friday Elisabeth Dooner, a flautist from the UK, will be working closely with Reception classes to develop their understanding of music through movement. The workshops will take a bird related theme and the children will work towards a performance on Tuesday next week (2nd May) at 1:45pm in the Drama Studio to which Reception parents are invited.
Flute Workshops
Next Monday and Tuesday we will have 2 visiting flautists from the UK in school: Sarah Newbold and Elisabeth Dooner. They are both experienced orchestral performers and teach in some of the top music colleges in the UK. 20 of our flute players from St. Andrews will have the opportunity to work with them over 2 days, during which time they will work on a creative piece, some ensemble repertoire, movement and supporting the Reception children. They will all perform alongside the professionals in a concert at 1:45pm in the drama studio on Tuesday, to which the flute players’ parents are invited.
Kathryn Andersen, Juilliard Curriculum Specialist
Next Monday to Wednesday our music curriculum specialist from Juilliard, Kathryn Andersen, will join us in school. During this visit she will be working with 5 different classes across the age ranges on some activities related to the Juilliard Core Works. She will also work with some of our musical ECA groups, which will be very rewarding.
