It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone back to school for the start of our new academic year 2017-18. The new High School looks fantastic and is ready to be enjoyed by all who teach and learn there. The Primary School has also undergone a brilliant revamp, bolstering its image and reconstituting our facilities to support the needs of a modern curriculum covering Nursery through to Year 6. The summer vacation has been anything but placid on campus, with plenty of serious discussions and the Herculean efforts of our resolute staff and contractors who worked tirelessly that so we can open on time.

The photographs of the Primary and High Schools demonstrate, better than any words I could use, the stunning new educational spaces and facilities that will elevate our learning environment into another level.

I really look forward to the School coming alive as our dynamic children and young people return to their classes to reacquaint with old friends and make build new relationships with the many newcomers to St Andrews. I know everyone wants all our new families to quickly settle in the strong and supportive community of our school. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to ask and we will be more than willing to find a way to make you feel at ease.

Also, please take advantage of our Parent-Teacher meetings, the details of which will be forthcoming. These events are a prime opportunity to meet lots of great people from our school community, who may also be able to provide advice and help answer many of the most common questions everyone has when joining a new school. Here are some of the upcoming parent information sessions at both the Primary and High School:

  • Y2 and KS2 Meet the Teacher:      Thursday 31st August at 4.00 pm

  • Y7 Parents Information Evening:   Tuesday 29th August at 4.00 pm

  • Y8 Parents Information Evening:   Tuesday 5th September at 4.00 pm

  • Y9 Parents Information Evening:   Thursday 7th September at 4.00 pm

  • Y10/11 Parents Information Evening:    Tuesday 12th September at 4.00 pm

  • Y12/13 Parents Information Evening:   Thursday 14th September at 4.00 pm

In addition, Mr. Keith, our Director of Learning Technologies, will be holding hands-on Moodle workshops for all parents to become more familiar with our virtual learning environment and discover how this powerful tool can be used for communication and support for your entire family. Moodle is also an ideal way for everyone to access and select the various ECA programmes that will start during Week 3. Each family will be able to see the vast array of available activities children can sign up for. To sign up for a slot at the Primary School, please contact officeps@standrews.ac.th; for the High School, please use officehs@standrews.ac.th.  The schedule of Moodle workshops is as follows:

  • Fri 25th Aug @ Primary School 07.30-08.00 or 08.00-08.30  (Library classroom)

  • Mon 28th Aug @ Primary School 07.30-08.00 or 08.00-08.30 (Library classroom)

  • Wed 30th Aug @ High School 07.30-08.00 or 08.00-08.30 (To be confirmed)

  • Thu 31st Aug @ High School 07.30-08.00 or 08.00-08.30 (To be confirmed)

I look forward to meeting you all around school, and especially talking with your children about what they most enjoy about learning with their teachers and assistants.  After all, this is what really make St Andrews International School Bangkok a special place to be.
